Spill Ur Beanz… in the beginning, this was going to be the name of my cafe.  The idea originated quite a while ago when I was way back in high school in the mid 90’s.  We would sneak out late at night and meet up with friends at an old coffee shop.  There we would always see couples get together.  I figured that’s where most people probably “Spilled their beans” to their “crushes”… No, I never did spill mine, but thought what a great name for a Cafe. Now my Cafe is Called SippChai, and that is where we…

As a kid, I never really tried in school. With 2 Chinese immigrant parents, I’m sure you could get the idea that they thought School was the path to success. Well now that I’m running my own digital marketing company, I don’t completely agree with them. True, school could be a path to success but it isn’t the only way. I ended up dropping school after my second year but I have never stopped learning. There are multiple reasons why I haven’t stopped; part of the reason is because I have so much more to learn and a lot more potential to unlock. The other part is because I’ve always wanted to help people and the “bigger/stronger” I am the more people I can help. That is the reason I’ve read hundreds of books listened to audio books, watched thousands of hours worth of videos and taken quite a few online courses. Even though I never tried in school I was good enough to get accepted into UBC for Electrical Engineering and that’s where I started my first business. A painting business. If you’ve ever heard of Student Works Painting they are a painting company that franchises out areas for Students to run their own painting business sure they provided a little bit of support but you’re basically on your own. The marketing and sales, and managing your own painters and clients. Man, that was the most stressful thing I ever did up until that point but even though it was stressful I loved it because I had a chance to make my clients happy and most of them were very wonderful people. I still remember working 16 hour days, especially at the beginning of the season and as I got better and more efficient those hours became shorter. But that’s when the entrepreneurial bug bit me and I’ve done a few business ventures after that and had a chance to make an impact on a few lives. Now I’m a part owner of this Spill Ur Beanz as well as running a digital marketing company.

Harbir Talhan

Harbir Talhan

Growing up in a small town on a farm, I developed the skills of hard work, determination, and discipline from a very young age. Along with these skills, the core values that I was raised with include being compassionate, caring, having integrity, helping others in need, and staying true to yourself. It is these foundational skills and values instilled in me from my parents that have carried me through to who I am today, and I will forever be grateful for it.

I hadn’t always known that I wanted to be a nurse. I knew that I wanted to be in the medical field since I loved biology and the human body always fascinated me. I applied to nursing since some of my family members were in the program and thought I’d get to look into other options while I’m on the waitlist! Reflecting back, I am very glad that this is the path I chose. Nursing allows me to be me in a much broader scope. I get to apply the skills and values I have learned not only in my day to day life but also in my career. Yes, there are definitely days when I question and wonder if this is truly what I want to be doing. I’ll confess…those questions usually arise after some of the toughest days at work! What keeps me going at these times is knowing that I’m making a difference for others, and realizing that I have a part in something bigger and deeper.

There is so much happening in this world that seems to be out of our control. You turn on the news and
more often than not, it will be full of negative things. By being a part of the team for Spill Ur Beanz, I hope to bring positive vibes and help spread the positive energy to others. This will allow me to be able to help more than only my patients. I will be sharing health tips about some of the most common health issues that we encounter, in hopes of spreading the message to many! I would also love to hear if you have any topics that you would like to know more about.

Hi, my name is Ishwar (I go by Ish or Ishy) and I’m an Indo-Canadian male born and raised in Abbotsford BC.  As a part of Spill Ur Beanz, I usually do anything that needs to be done, such as moving equipment, manning cameras, making sure the lighting is right, writing out transcripts for closed captioning, research, and very reluctantly, sometimes even in front of the camera!  You may be able to tell by watching the episodes on the show that I appear timid and shy. However, I hope to circumvent this by sticking to topics that pique great interest and spark the fire of passion in me like technology and history.

Life has always been one great big question mark to me.  I’ve never really known what it is I would like to do in life.  Whether it be working an honest man’s factory job, working 9 to 5 in an office somewhere, owning my own business, being a sports athlete or becoming an archaeologist.  What I do know is that helping others is something I am very passionate about.  And I decided to join the Spill Ur Beanz team as a jack of all trades, doing whatever it takes until I can find something more specific that I shine at.
